FDI Insurance DACCover that holds its ground.

FDI Insurance d.a.c. is an Irish insurance undertaking, authorised in Dublin since 2001 and supervised by the Central Bank of Ireland. We work through brokers, standing behind the commitments their clients make for the long term — investments and retirement income, estate and family protection, workplace cover, and the guarantees a business trades on.

An insurance promise is worth exactly what the balance sheet behind it can bear. Ours is published in full every year, in the same regulatory templates the CBI reads, and it has strengthened in every reporting period we have published.

Company overview and ownership

How we work

Four principles, held to since 2001

We are a small undertaking with a narrow appetite and a legible balance sheet. That is a deliberate choice, and it is what lets us answer a broker the same week.

01

Underwrite what we understand

A single line of business, written for counterparties we can assess in depth, beats a broad book we can only assess at arm’s length. Our appetite is narrow on purpose.

02

Retain the profit

Operating results have been retained in the company rather than distributed, which is why own funds have risen every year since 2019 while the balance sheet stayed simple.

03

Keep the balance sheet legible

Assets sit in deposits and receivables, not structured credit. The simplicity of the balance sheet means solvency valuation needs no bespoke models or adjustments.

04

Answer the broker, not the queue

Intermediaries deal with a named underwriter in Dublin. Terms of business, bond wordings and referrals are handled by people who can commit, not routed to a call centre.

One specialism, in depth

A guarantee from an insurer, not a line drawn on your bank

Guarantees and surety are the one class we underwrite on our own paper, which is why we know it well. A bond issued by FDI sits outside your borrowing facilities: your committed lines stay committed, your cash stays where it is, and the beneficiary holds an instrument from an insurer supervised by the Central Bank of Ireland.

7 reporting periods

The position at 31 December 2025

Provisional management figures for the 2025 period, prepared on the same Solvency II basis as the filed years and shown in GBP. The last period with a published Solvency & Financial Condition Report is 2024; Article 51 of Directive 2009/138/EC requires us to publish that report, and we would rather it were easy to read.
