Dublin city centre
Who it is for
Members of any FDI group scheme and their households
What it does
- Virtual GP appointments, including for household members
- Structured mental health programme with self-guided and clinician-led routes
- Second medical opinion from a specialist consultant
- Bereavement counselling and probate helpline for families
The product in full
These are the services wrapped around every group policy we write, and they are included in the premium rather than sold beside it. Virtual GP appointments, a structured mental health programme, a second medical opinion service, bereavement counselling and a probate helpline — available to the member and, for most of them, to their household.
The reason they are bundled is a practical one. A group life policy might be claimed on once in a decade at a mid-sized employer; the virtual GP is used every month. From the employee’s point of view the support services are the part of the benefit package they actually touch, and from the employer’s point of view they are the part that produces goodwill rather than paperwork.
The mental health programme is structured rather than a helpline: a self-guided route for members who want to work through something on their own, and a clinician-led route where that is the right answer. Household coverage matters here as much as anywhere — a member whose partner or child is struggling is affected at work whether or not they are the patient.
Access is through an app and by telephone. Both matter: the app carries the appointments and the programme, and the telephone route is what a bereaved family uses at nine in the evening.

How it works
What happens, in order
From the first enquiry to the point the cover, the contract or the facility is in place.
Eligibility comes with the group policy
All members of any FDI group scheme, with partner and children included on the household services.
Members register once
Through the member registration guide, on the app or by telephone. Registration is what turns an entitlement into something used.
Services are used as needed, without a claim
No claim form, no employer involvement and no notification to the employer that a service has been used.
The second opinion and bereavement routes stay open
Including for the family after a member’s death, which is when the probate helpline is generally reached.

The numbers
A worked example
Illustrative arithmetic, so the shape of the product is visible rather than described. Nothing here is a quotation or a projection.

Suitability
Where the Employee Support Services fits
The cases it answers, the cases it does not, and what an underwriter needs before quoting.
It is the right answer when
- Any employer placing group cover with us — the services come with it.
- Workforces where a virtual GP and household access are genuinely valued.
- Employers who want a benefit employees use, not only one they are told about.
Look at something else when
- Purchase on their own — these services are not sold separately from group cover.
- Employers looking for a medical insurance policy; this is support, not indemnity for treatment costs.
What we need to quote
- 1.An FDI group scheme in force.
- 2.A member communication route, so the workforce knows the services exist.
- 3.Nothing else — there is no separate application and no additional premium.

Questions
What brokers ask us about this product
Do the services cost extra?
No. They are included in the group premium for every scheme we write.
Can a member’s partner use them?
The household services — the virtual GP, the mental health programme and bereavement counselling — cover partner and children. The member registration guide sets out which apply to whom.
Does the employer see who has used a service?
No. Usage is between the member and the service, and no notification goes to the employer.
